Runtime is a system calculation
Battery runtime depends on usable stored energy and the energy consumed while parked. Cooling is often a major load, but refrigerators, fans, inverters and personal electronics can contribute too. Battery capacity alone cannot describe the entire night.
For a rough planning exercise, divide usable watt-hours by average watts. A hypothetical 4,000 usable Wh supply serving a 500 W average load suggests eight hours before other limits or losses. This is an illustration, not a Polar Fox performance specification.
Understand why cooling demand changes
A sun-heated sleeper needs more work than a cab that is already comfortable. Outdoor temperature, humidity, window exposure, insulation and door openings all affect cooling demand. The compressor may cycle differently as conditions change.
Measure a full parked period instead of assuming peak electrical draw continues all night. Record starting charge, ending charge, temperature and other appliances. Several nights in similar conditions provide a more useful picture than one unusually mild test.
Protect your recharge window
The next stop depends on how much energy you replace between stops. Ask the installer how your truck charges the auxiliary batteries, what affects charging rate and how you can confirm charging is working. Short driving days can require a different plan from long highway days.
When available, correctly configured shore charging may offer another opportunity to restore capacity. Confirm the equipment and connection requirements for your installed system rather than improvising a household connection.
Ask for a realistic configuration
Give Polar Fox your longest expected parked period, typical climate and appliance list. Ask for the assumptions behind the suggested capacity and the reserve strategy for starting the truck.
After installation, learn the battery display and operating controls before your first overnight stop. A practical runtime plan includes both the comfortable night and the energy needed for the next one.
