Choosing an APU Installer: Questions That Improve Your Quote

By Polar Fox APU

Ask how the installer checks fit

A good fit discussion starts with truck details, measurements and photos. Ask how the installer reviews mounting space, electrical compatibility and existing equipment before confirming the scope.

Examples of similar installations can be helpful. Ask what differs on your truck and whether any planned work changes the original proposal. The goal is a clear installation plan rather than a promise based solely on the make name.

Compare the written scope

Request an itemized proposal that identifies equipment, labor, shipping, optional components and commissioning. Ask how unexpected work is approved. Confirm the appointment plan and any arrangements you need to make while the truck is in service.

Two prices are only comparable when they cover the same work. If one proposal leaves charging, removal or training unspecified, ask for clarification before choosing.

Check the support handoff

Ask who handles product questions, installation issues and warranty claims. Learn which maintenance tasks the owner performs and which require a technician.

Request a demonstration of the controls, battery display and charging operation. Manuals and component records should remain with the truck. This helps future drivers and service staff understand the system without reconstructing the installation from memory.

Make photos part of the conversation

Bring installation pictures that show the appearance you like, along with photos of your own truck. Discuss routing and service access as well as the finished look.

Use Polar Fox’s dealer locator to start a conversation with an appropriate location, then request a complete truck-specific quote. Clear questions help the installer recommend the right scope and help you evaluate the result with confidence.
